BUILD FAQ

HOW IS COVID-19 AFFECTING BUILD SPACES?
Unfortunately, CoLab is currently closed so we are not able to provide build spaces at this time. We are hopeful that this will pass soon and we will be able to start taking applications again.
I’M CONFUSED. HOW DOES THIS WORK???
If you want to build an art project here, you'll need to fill out this form. If your application gets accepted, we'll provide you with the amount of space we feel is necessary for your project, for the duration of your project. During this time, you'll have access to use the space whenever you want. You'll be able to schedule team build days whenever you need them so that your team can utilize the entire CoLab space, but all materials will need to be put back into your space by the end of the day. You'll need to bring in your own supplies and tent to build under.
CAN I BRING MY OWN TOOLS?
Absolutely! Once you have your dedicated space, you can bring in any additional tools you need. We just ask that you keep you clean up after yourself, store your tools in your dedicated space, and be respectful of others around you.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Build spaces at CoLab are 100% FREE to use. Yep, you read that correctly. Zip. Nada. Zero. The spaces are made available through community donations, so please consider donating if you can.
WHAT TYPES OF PROJECTS QUALIFY FOR BUILD SPACE?
YOUtopia and Burning Man art projects take priority for large build areas.
CAN I STORE MY ART PROJECT HERE?
You can store your project in your designated space for the duration of your project. While open areas are free to use, you'll need to clean up at the end of the day.
HOW LONG CAN I USE THE SPACE?
We'll provide you with a set timeline based on your project needs and our space availability.
THIS SEEMS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. IS IT?
Nope, this is real life. We wouldn't lie to you.
